Farewell, Sir Andrew Davis (1924-2024)

Sir Andrew Davis, the charismatic English conductor, well known for his performances at the BBC Proms, has passed away, this week.

My own memories of Sir Andrew will always be of watching the Last Night of the Proms, as a child, and being mesmerised by his charisma and his ability to communicate with the orchestral musicians he was conducting. He seemed unassuming and friendly to everyone, and the musicians seemed to truly respond to his style of conducting and music making.
